AUBURN — An man was charged with First Degree Attempted Sodomy and Second Degree Possession of Marijuana after allegedly forcing a woman into a restroom at a bar in Auburn and threatening her with a handgun in an attempt to coerce her to perform a sexual act, according to a release from Auburn police.
At about 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning, officers responded to a suspicious incident call at a bar in the 100 block of East Magnolia Street. When officers arrived on scene they were met by employees of the bar who were detaining an individual, later identified as 22-year-old Devonte Rashaud Hunter.
Further investigation into the incident revealed that a 20-year-old female patron of the bar reported being forced into a restroom by Hunter. Once inside the restroom the victim reports that Hunter grabbed her, threatened her with a handgun in an attempt to coerce her to perform a sexual act.
She fled and notified security personnel; Hunter was identified and detained until he was taken into custody by Auburn Police. The victim was not injured in the incident. A quantity of marijuana was located on his person when he was arrested, resulting in an additional charge of Possession of Marijuana Second Degree.
Detectives obtained warrants for his arrest, and he was transported to the Lee County Jail where he is being held on a $15,000 bond.
