Wayne S. Morris, age 78 of Pinson, went home to be with the Lord on April 2, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years Betty Morris, his son Jeffrey Scott Morris (Sheila), his special granddaughter Jessica (Jessie) Morris, nephews Randy Bonner and Terry Bonner, brother-in-law Mike Barrett (Mary Anne), and sister-in-law Linda Barrett. He leaves behind many friends and family members, and he is preceded in death by his parents Edward (Ed) and Eve Morris, sister Jean Bonner, brother-in-law Tommy Barrett, and father- and mother-in-law Paul and Leontine Barrett.
Morris was born in Adamsville, Alabama, on October 9, 1940, grew up in Tarrant, and graduated from Tarrant High School in 1959. He retired from the Jefferson County Department of Revenue before starting his own business, Morris and Associates, which he closed in 2001. Wayne loved his motorhome travels, Alabama football, and playing cards. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Tarrant, the American Legion Post 113, the Dolcito Masonic Lodge 596, and the Zomora Shrine, but most importantly he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
