The 2013 High School Media Day is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at Gardendale Civic Center’s Fireside Room.
Teams from the Birmingham metro area have been invited to the event, including Clay-Chalkville, Pinson Valley and Hewitt-Trussville. The team’s head coach and no more than two players are expected to attend the event.
Teams will be set in 16-minute interview increments.
Clay-Chalkville is scheduled for 12:48 p.m. Monday. Pinson Valley is scheduled for 10:04 a.m. Tuesday and Hewitt-Trussville is scheduled for 11:42 a.m. Tuesday.
Pinson Valley head football coach Matt Glover said players accompanying him to the event will be rising senior quarterback Brooks Garrett and rising senior outside linebacker Elijah Bibbs. Hewitt-Trussville will likely be represented by rising senior running back Peyton Palmer and rising senior linebacker Hunter Reid. Clay-Chalkville head football coach Jerry Hood did not return a message before press time asking which players they may bring to the event.
Other notable teams expected to appear Monday include Hoover at 11:42 a.m., Spain Park at 12:14 p.m., Oak Mountain at 12:30 p.m., Mountain Brook at 1:20 p.m., Shades Valley at 1:36 p.m. and Vestavia Hills at 1:54 p.m.
Other notable teams expected to appear Tuesday include Gardendale at 9:48 a.m., Center Point at 10:36 a.m., Leeds at 10:54 a.m., Homewood at 11:58 a.m., Huffman at 12:14 p.m., Carver at 1:36 p.m. and Woodlawn at 1:54 p.m.
Clay-Chalkville was 12-2 last season, reaching the Class 6A semifinals before losing to eventual state champion Hoover. Pinson Valley posted an 8-4 record in 2012 and reached the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs before losing to Muscle Shoals. Hewitt-Trussville posted a 4-6 record last season and missed the Class 6A state playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season.
