On Saturday October 20, investigators received information from authorities in Blount County that a man had fallen from a cliff and been critically injured, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department.
“He had crawled to a nearby home to get help,” Christian said. “They found items in his vehicle that led them to believe he may have been involved on these robberies. The man was transported to a Birmingham hospital. Detectives executed search warrants on the subject’s vehicle and his residence.”
According to Christian, evidence was found that links him to the robberies.
“Detectives also found evidence linking the man to an October 15 robbery of Tyner’s Pharmacy in the 5600 block of Chalkville Mountain Road where narcotics were taken and an earlier robbery of Roger’s Convenience Store,” Christian said. “He is also a suspect in robberies in Blount County and the city of Birmingham. He suffered a broken back and the loss of one of his legs in the fall. He told detectives that he was hit by a car, but has refused to speak to answer further questions.”
