In light of the Trussville City Council deciding to fund a School Resource Officer
for Paine Primary and Intermediate schools, ABC 33/40 is reporting that additional security may actually harm children. An SRO has been assigned to the Trussville middle and high schools since before the city system was founded
.
“What becomes the norm becomes the norm. And they probably will be desensitized to the fact that there are security cameras and police officers. It’ll kind of become their world,” Laurie Pierce with Samaritan Counseling Center told the television station.
