A 61-year-old Pinson man is dead after a single-vehicle traffic accident late Wednesday night.
Monte Dale Reed died as a result of the accident, which occurred in the 7500 block of Mack Hicks Road.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian said that at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were called to investigate a traffic accident in the front yard of a residence. The homeowner told deputies that he had been asleep and was awakened by a loud crash, Christian said.
The homeowner went outside, where he saw a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado truck in his yard. He walked to the truck and turned the key off, Christian said.
Reed had been ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead on the scene, Christian said.
The truck left the roadway exiting a curve approximately 275 feet north of the homeowner’s driveway, struck multiple bushes and a tree before coming to rest in the driveway, Christian said. Reed was not wearing a seat belt, Christian said.
