Former Pinson Valley running back/wide receiver A.J. Freeman scored a touchdown in Thursday’s Alabama High School Athletics Association North-South All-Star football game at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
Freeman, playing for the North team, scored on a 20-yard reception midway through the first quarter, giving the North a 14-0 advantage over the South.
The South staged a dramatic comeback, scoring 22 points in the final 19:15 to beat the North 22-21.

The 5-foot-6, 148-pound Freeman, who will play at Faulkner University, also returned a kickoff 25 yards in the loss. Former Pinson Valley wide receiver Harry Mason caught one pass for five yards.
Former Pinson Valley defensive back Jeffrey Blair, who will also play at Faulkner University, ranked fifth on the North squad with six tackles and one tackle for loss. Fellow defensive back Mondeno Gibson, a Pinson Valley graduate who will play at Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky, was right behind Blair with five tackles and one tackle for loss.
From Clay-Chalkville, defensive end LeVante’ Price totaled two tackles for the North team. Defensive end Daniel Clayton, who was a Class 6A all-state player in 2012 for Clay-Chalkville, also played for the North team.
The South leads the all-time series, which began in 1948, by a 29-23-2 margin.
