Clay-Chalkville remains No. 2 in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 6A rankings.
The Cougars (6-0, 4-0 Class 6A, Region 7) received two first-place votes and is behind just Hoover (6-0), which received the other 30 first-place votes.
The rest of the top 10 includes, in order, Opelika, Bob Jones, Smiths Station, Vestavia Hills, Auburn, Shades Valley, McGill-Toolen and Murphy.

Neither Hewitt-Trussville (2-4, 2-2 Class 6A, Region 6) nor Pinson Valley (3-3, 2-2 Class 5A, Region 6) garnered votes for top 10 consideration in the polls.
Clay-Chalkville hits the road for region foe Gadsden City (2-4, 1-3) on Friday.
