CLAY — Clay-Chalkville junior point guard Kristian Hudson had her biggest night of the season Tuesday.
Hudson scored 34 points to lead Clay-Chalkville (9-1) to a 72-52 win over Fort Payne. Bria Bethea and T.J. Thomas each scored 14 points.
The Clay-Chalkville varsity boys defeated Fort Payne 68-39. Martin Reed led the Cougars (8-5) with 14 points. Edward Leggett scored 13 and Brian Clark added 11. Hasan Abdullah chipped in with seven points, seven assists and five steals.
The Hewitt-Trussville varsity basketball teams swept Pell City at home. The girls moved to 8-4 with a 49-18 win over the Lady Panthers. Freshman Bailey Berry connected on three 3-pointers to lead the Lady Huskies with nine points. Gabby Hill scored eight points, and Morgan McLain and Cayla Dillard each scored seven.
The varsity boys got past Pell City 49-26. Jarvis Calhoun led the Huskies (11-2) with 10 points. Dylan McCormick and Connor Murrell scored eight points each.
The Pinson Valley girls fell at Class 5A, Area 11 opponent Springville, 52-43. Pinson Valley (2-9, 0-2) was led by Destini McKinney, who scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Alex Lowery and Maralie McKinney scored eight points each.
The Pinson Valley boys defeated Springville 66-52 to move to 5-6 overall, 1-1 in area play. Kerry Griffith led the Indians with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Donevan Waldrop scored 11 points.
