TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville boys and girls lacrosse clubs will begin their 2014 seasons this weekend.
The boys travel to Grissom on Saturday and the girls host Hoover on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Trussville Sports Complex.
The boys’ first home game at the Trussville Sports Complex is Feb. 21 against Homewood at 6 p.m.
Lacrosse is not yet sanctioned by the Alabama High School Athletic Association, though coach Jamey Curlee believes that will happen in the next few years.
Hewitt-Trussville High School will play in the Greater Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association, competing in the association’s Division II, which includes teams from Homewood, Altamont, Briarwood, Magic City, Prattville, Auburn and Huntsville. Division I includes more experienced lacrosse teams, such as Hoover, Spain Park, Mountain Brook and Vestavia Hills.
