TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville is ranked No. 8 in Class 6A in the first Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball rankings, released Thursday.
Hewitt-Trussville (15-4) sits behind, in order, Sparkman, Huntsville, Thompson, Hoover, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Opelika and Oxford. Defending state champion Pelham is No. 9. Buckhorn is No. 10.
Hewitt-Trussville has played one of the toughest schedules in the state to date. The Huskies have defeated Class 5A No. 4 Hartselle 10-1, Class 6A No. 10 Buckhorn 7-1, Class 5A No. 12 Homewood 6-4, Class 5A No. 7 Briarwood 10-0, and Class 6A No. 15 Spain Park 7-0 and 6-5.
Hewitt-Trussville has lost to Class 6A No. 2 Huntsville 7-1, Class 6A No. 1 Sparkman 11-1 and Class 6A No. 9 Pelham 2-0.
Pinson Valley (9-5) sits behind, in order, Spanish Fort, Southside-Gadsden, Cullman, Hartselle, St. Paul’s, Muscle Shoals, Briarwood, Etowah and Pleasant Grove in Class 5A.
The Hewitt-Trussville softball team is ranked No. 10 in Class 6A in the first rankings of the season. The Lady Huskies (15-3) sit behind, in order, Sparkman, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Baker, Pelham, Spain Park, Buckhorn, Oxford, Theodore and Daphne.
