TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Council on Tuesday voted to declare April as Donate Life Month in the city.
April is considered National Donate Life Month. According to the approved proclamation, approximately 28,951 candidates on the nation’s organ transplant waiting list received a life-saving or life-enhancing organ transplant in 2013. Of those, 413 were in Alabama.
The proclamation states that the Alabama Organ Center is the nonprofit, independent organ recovery organization dedicated to the recovery of high quality organs and tissues for transplantation therapy.
“We honor all who have given the gift of life, we focus our efforts on the extreme need for organ and tissue donors, and we encourage residents to designate their donation decision and share the decision to donate with family members,” the proclamation states.
