BIRMINGHAM –Pinson’s Chaya Anders, 63, became Birmingham’s ninth homicide victim of 2014 on Saturday.
Anders was the owner of Ebony Beauty Supply in North Birmingham, where she was slain and pronounced dead on the scene by the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service around 10:40 a.m..
Customers knew something was wrong after arriving for their scheduled hair appointment only to find locked doors and Ander’s car parked outside the business, seemingly over night. The salon is located on the 2900 block of 27th Street North.
The concerned customers called the authorities and after entering the business, officers discovered the owner lying on her back with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. According to the Jefferson County Coroner Office, the crime—robbery, homicide—appeared to be executed sometime Friday night.
Birmingham Police Department spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says no arrest has been made.
