TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department is investigating after a homeowner foiled a burglary in progress at his home Friday.
Capt. Jeff Bridges said a homeowner in the 3300 block of Smith Sims Road heard his alarm around 12:30 p.m. or 12:40 p.m. and retrieved his handgun.
Bridges said that the homeowner proceeded to his basement, where he found a white male hiding behind a freezer. The homeowner ordered the man out of the basement at gunpoint, Bridges said, and the suspect ran.
It was reported that the homeowner fired one shot at the suspect. Bridges said no evidence has been found yet of a shot fired.
A K-9 was brought to the area but the suspect hasn’t been located. He is a white male wearing a brown coat and blue jeans, Bridges said.
