BIRMINGHAM –The Birmingham Salvation Army will provide a Christmas meal for the homeless this Friday, Dec. 25 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Social Services Dining Room located at 2130 11th Ave. North.
The non-profit will serve a traditional Christmas lunch, complete with ham, dressing, macaroni and cheese and a variety of desserts.
“Christmas day is special and we are thankful for our volunteers that serve those in need on this day” Area Commander, Major Bob Parker said. “It’s a blessing to be able to provide a delicious meal, share a smile and word of encouragement with those in need on Christmas.”
The Salvation Army will have 40 volunteers serving meals for an estimated 150-200 guests. Last year alone, The Salvation Army served 170,486 meals to families and individuals in need.
