PINSON — Pinson’s haunted house “Insanitarium” has been chosen as one of the three locations to be visited this year by the Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow and Conference (HAuNTcon). The conference will bring hundreds of haunted attraction fans from across the country to the Pinson community.
“Insanitarium is proud of what we, as a community, have been able to accomplish in the past five years,” Insanitarium Creative Director Chris Screws said. “We are honored to be selected as a featured haunted attraction for HAuNTcon. We look forward to welcoming both US and international attendees to Alabama.”
The 2016 is scheduled to take place Jan. 27-Feb. 1 at the Sheraton-Birmingham Hotel and Conference Center. HAuNTcon is an expo and conference “Designed by haunters, for haunters” of every age and level of experience. The event strives to bring together people who love haunted houses and Halloween for a fun-filled four days and nights.
This is the first time the event has been held in Alabama.
During the event, there will be haunted attraction tours, haunter education, Halloween trade show, haunted garage sale, FX makeup and prop building demonstrations, rounded out b networking opportunities, such as the annual costume ball.
HAuNTcon offers more than 50 hours of educational seminars to those who want to increase their knowledge on how to better produce a haunted attraction. Creative sessions, business seminars, hands-on workshops, makeup and product demonstrations all designed to provide information and teach techniques for this next haunt season.
In addition, the conference offers haunted attraction owners a chance to get their hands on the latest gadgets with vendors from across the country. There will be props, set design, costumes, makeup supplies, animatronics, special effects, masks, marketing and promotional tools and more available for haunters during the trade show event.
For those who would like to get a taste of the haunt season, three local haunted houses will open up for a full October-style event. Haunters will be allowed to take part in the Insanitarium, Warehouse 318 and Nightmare 3008 haunted tours during HAuNTcon.
