Mrs. Sue Adams, age 78, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015.
She was born in Gadsden, AL on June 9, 1937 a daughter of the late Hubert Thomas Smith and Jennie Gertrude Crumpton Smith. Mrs. Adams had been a resident of Rockmart for the past eight years moving here from Trussville, AL. She was of the Baptist faith , was a retired employee of Rich’s Department Store in Birmingham, AL. and was preceded in death by her husband, Mac McWhorter.
Mrs. Adams was a master gardener who turned her yard into a work of art, a garden of Eden, a rain forest and a Disney landscape all rolled into one. She was celebrated by her colleagues in the gardening world with a feature article in the Alabama Gardener Magazine, June of 2003. In addition to her love for the outdoors was her love of animals, humming birds and butterflies.
Her nieces and nephews also knew the wonder of her edible delights such as fudge, angel biscuits, homegrown tomatoes and fresh figs.
Survivors include her two sisters: Martha Price, Pell City, AL and Barbara Moore, Rockmart, GA; god-daughter, Lisa Smith, Ft. Payne, AL; nieces: Donna Robbins, Teresa Dawson, Leslie McDowell, Jennifer Deaton and Erica Price; nephews: David Moore, Alan Cook, Richard Cook, Greg Cook and Bo Price; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in Rockmart on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby McDowell officiating. The family will receive friends from2:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
Interment will follow on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. CST in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville, AL with Rev. Wayne Arnold officiating.
