BIRMINGHAM — Just after midnight Tuesday, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a burglary at a residence in the 5600 block of Flat Top Road in Dora. It was reported that, sometime during the day, someone had broken into the home and stolen several
firearms. Deputies obtained surveillance footage from a nearby business that showed a suspect vehicle at the residence.
The victim identified the vehicle as belonging to an acquaintance that had been to the home before. Later that day detectives learned that the suspect was working at a home in the Wylam community of western Birmingham.
Police went to the address and questioned the suspect. Four of the five stolen guns were recovered. The 41-year-old male suspect was arrested for Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft of Property 2nd Degree.
The name of the suspect is withheld pending formal charges.
