JEFFERSON COUNTY –Thirty applicants submitted their names for consideration to fill the Jefferson County Board of Education seat left vacant by the sudden death of Dean Taylor.
The board released the names this week. Friday morning, board members sent in their top three candidates to board president, Jacqueline Smith. She will compile this information and narrow down the list to a top three or five candidates.
On Tuesday, a special called board meeting at 10 a.m. will be held for public interviews with the candidates in the Board Room at the Central Office Building. No voting will occur at this meeting.
The board will meet on Thurday and a recommendation will be made for a new board member to be voted on and approved.
