BLOUNT COUNTY –A 72-year-old Blount County man died when he was struck and killed by a pickup truck as he was crossing the road at an intersection, the Alabama State Troopers reported.
A single-vehicle crash at 9 p.m. Friday, claimed the life of a pedestrian. Rex Evans Fortenberry, 72, of Blountsville who was crossing U.S. 231 at the intersection of Alabama 67 when he was struck by a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not injured and did remain at the scene.
The crash occurred seven miles north of Blountsville. No further information is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
