CLAY – No charges will be filed against a suspect who shot two people with a pellet gun in Clay on June 3.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 6500 block of Clay Palmerdale Road around 9:30 to find an adult male and adult female suffering from
gunshot wounds It was later determined both victims had been shot with a pellet gun.
Initial investigations indicated the victims and the suspect had been involved in an ongoing feud for several weeks. The suspect pulled up to the residence and became engaged in an argument, pulling a pellet pistol and shooting both victims.
Detectives questioned the victims about the shooting and they were “less that forthcoming” about events leading to the argument and shooting, according to a press release sent by Sgt. Jack Self. The victims later contacted the detective and told him they had lied about the identity of the shooter, indicating they wanted the case dropped, upon which the detective told them that was not possible. They later returned to their original story, but told the detective they refused to cooperate or participate in the prosecution of the person responsible.
The detective presented the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office upon discovering the victims wouldn’t cooperate, and the decision was made not to refer charges in this case.
