From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
Birmingham Bill, the Birmingham Zoo’s Groundhog and favorite weather forecaster, emerged from hibernation this morning and saw his shadow, predicting another six weeks of winter.
The sun was out, the wind was blowing and a chill was in the air this morning, but that didn’t stop children and families from packing the Schaeffer Eye Center Wildlife Stage stands waiting for Birmingham Bill to emerge from his chambers around 10:00 a.m.
So far, Birmingham Bill’s counterparts, Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania and Georgia’s General Beauregard Lee have predicted six more weeks of winter, but his counterparts Wiarton Willie in Canada and Louisiana’s Pierre C. Shadeaux spotted their shadows this morning predicting an early Spring.
There may be six more weeks of winter, but we might not have to bundle up much as long as we thought
Whether you trust the weather forecasts of these furry friends, weather.com suggests that in latter February the colder temperatures may be over in the Southeast, which is good news.
