Two suspects have been arrested and charged in the murder of Brandon Alexander Burpo, 17, of Clay, who died on Feb. 11 after being shot at his home in the 4400 block of Winchester Hills Way. The suspects are both from Hoover.
Traquarus Brannon and Jada Williams, both 18, have been charged with murder and capital murder. The two were taken into custody at Hoover High School, Sergeant Jack Self said.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Burpo had received a phone call, went outside to meet someone nearby and was shot.
Sheriff’s detectives reviewed records from the victim’s cell phone and discovered the call luring him out came from one of the suspects, 18-year-old Jada Williams.

Williams and a second suspect, 18 year old Traquarus Brannon described as her boyfriend were taken into custody Monday and when questioned claimed the victim had recently robbed them.
Williams admitted making the call that lured the victim out. When the victim arrived at their vehicle Brannon began shooting at him, according to a statement from the sheriff
Williams posted a $60,000 bond and was released pending court while Brannon remains without bond. A third suspect is believed to have been involved and is being searched for.
