From The Trussvlle Tribune staff reports
BIRMINGHAM –-With Interstate 59/20 Southbound already closed at Interstate 65, travel conditions just got worse for Monday morning.
The Alabama Department of Transportation announced today, that the 2 inside lanes will be closed on I-65 Southbound at the I-59/20 Interchange in Birmingham beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 8th. The lane closures are part of continued efforts to address the Emergency Closure of I-59/20 SB at this location.
In addition, planned overnight work may warrant these lane closures to extend past 6 a.m. on Monday, April 9th. Thus, heavy delays will occur for I-65 SB traffic approaching Birmingham during the morning rush hour.
Again, ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience and apologizes for the delays that may result.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this construction to improve Alabama’s roadways.
