The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies dominated region foe Huntsville Panthers 9-0 on Monday.
Huskies pitcher Molly Cobb pitched a complete game only surrendering six hits and also helped the team out at the plate going 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Kailey Walters went 3 for 4 at the plate with a run scored while Hannah Borden was 2 for 3 on the night with 3 runs batted in.
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead in the first inning after a couple of errors by Huntsville that put the Huskies in a bases loaded situation. Crystal Maze hit an RBI single and an error by the left fielder allowed her to reach second base as well.
After a fielder’s choice allowed the runner at third to cross home, Anyce Harvey smacked an RBI double to left field and the Huskies were rolling.
At the end of the first inning the scoreboard showed 4-0 Hewitt-Trussville and they did not let up.
Cobb dominated from the mound and her teammates backed her up with excellent play in the field.
The scoring concluded with Huskies’ Borden hitting a two RBI single to left field that landed just shy of a home run in the bottom of the fifth. Making the lead 9-0 at the beginning of the sixth inning and the final score remained the same.
The Huskies finished the game with 11 hits and no errors while holding the Panthers scoreless on six hits and forcing three errors.
