CHICAGO –After 10 years as a finalist, more than any restaurant in history, the James Beard Foundation finally acknowledged what Alabama diners have believed for decades, Highland Bar and Grill is America’s most outstanding restaurant. The awards were handed out at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Restaurant owner Frank Stitt was on hand to accept the award for his popular restaurant that combines classic French cuisine, Southern cooking and farm fresh ingredients.
But the awards didn’t end there.
The 35-year veteran pastry chef at Highlands Bar & Grill, Dolester Miles, was named the most outstanding pastry chef.
