BIRMINGHAM— A Friday morning shootout off Greensprings Highway has left a man battling for his life against life-threatening injuries, according to WVTM 13.
Reports of shots fired brought law enforcement to a Chevron gas station located at the corner of Greensprings Highway and Valley Avenue. Upon arrival the responding officers discovered a man suffering from two gunshot wounds.
A local hospital attended to the wounds after the victim was transported there.
According to Sgt. Bryan Shelton police investigators believed the incident was related to a shootout, extending for a block and a half, and that the victim may have been caught in the crossfire.
In the aftermath of the event police cordoned off the Chevron gas station and two clubs that are located off of Valley Road. It is unknown where the shooting began, how many participated in it, or the cause.
So far, there have been no arrests.
