After a brief discussion the council decided to set December 8 as the date of the 2018 Christmas parade.
The council decided to extend the current budget until the next council meeting. At that time a new budget for this fiscal year will be considered and voted upon. The council extended the budget at the request of the interim fire chief. The fire department wanted some extra time to work out a few thing with their budget. During the Argo City budget meeting on September 25 the fire department was exhaustive in their efforts to cut expenses. Councilman Anthony Alldredge said, “I think we owe it to all these guys to do it. I don’t know if most of you have been here during those budget meetings but I think all our departments have been extremely cooperative and worked very hard to make this thing happen. So, I personally feel like we owe it to them to do that.”
Mayor Betty Bradley reported to the council that the funds needed for Argo to meet its obligation in providing for a School Resource Officer for the Springville School had been met. A shortfall in the needed amount had been met by each council member, and one local business, contributing $500 a piece to the cause.
Other items considered by the council included:
- Further consideration on a new policy for applications and building permits
- Report on the status of paving and fixing roads
- Further consideration on a new policy for sign permits
- A report on the status of the new storm shelter project
- More discussion on the issue of signing a long-term contract with Moody GUS, for treatment services.
The next Argo City Council Meeting will be held on Monday October 22.
