JEFFERSON COUNTY – When people think of the tools of law enforcement the first things that, most often, comes to mind are vests, firearms and patrol cars. Just as often overlooked is one of the most critical tools of any officer’s kit, the radio.
Radios are law enforcement’s lifeline. They feed police the vital information that keeps our communities safe. They provide a link between the officer and dispatch that keeps our police safe. They are essential, integral and need to work the first time, every time.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is donating used radio equipment to seven area law enforcement agencies in need of updated communications devices.
The Sheriff’s Office recently updated their radio equipment leaving several older radios as surplus. These surplus radios are being donated to Brookside Police, Warrior Police, Kimberly Police, Morris Police, Trafford Police, Brighton Police, and Lipscomb Police. In all fifty-seven walkie-talkies, forty-five car radios, and seven base stations are being given to these agencies.
The equipment will assist in more efficient communication for these agencies as well as facilitate the ability of these departments to communicate with the Sheriff’s Office in times of critical incidents.
These radios have been reprogrammed, are in great shape and ready to be immediately put in service.
