BIRMINGHAM – Sheriff Mike Hale has announced that, beginning Thursday, October 25, personnel can apply and pay for pistol permits online.
The new feature on the Sheriff’s Office website went live the morning of October 25. Citizens interested in applying for a pistol permit can now do so online. Simply go to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office website at www.jeffcosheriff.net and click on the “Pistol Permits’ tab. Then select apply now on the page.
The application will be sent to the Sheriff’s Pistol Permit Division and processed. Once approved, the pistol permit will be mailed to the applicant.
Sheriff Hale fought for and stands by his commitment to keep the price of pistol permits affordable. The cost of a pistol permit in Jefferson County remains at $7.50 per year for up to five years which is the lowest in the state.
