BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department reported that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation and need assistance in identifying individuals that are in the attached video. The subjects are not suspects, but are believed to have information that could aid in the investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at approximately 2:55 am.
Officers from the South Precinct responded to 3813 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. N. to investigate a report of multiple shots fired at the location. Officers arrived and located the first victim lying on the ground unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
The first victim has been identified as LaQuintin Deon Wright, 29, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Officers also learned that a second victim was struck by gunfire and transported to UAB Hospital for treatment by a private vehicle. Investigators later learned that the victim had succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
The second victim has been identified as JaGorren Jimmie Kelly, 33, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Investigators learned that a large crowd was exiting the club when multiple shooters began to fire at each other. No additional injuries were reported during the shooting. No
suspects are in custody. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
