From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — The 39th Annual Trussville City Fest will be held on Saturday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The festival is produced by the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce, and its presenting sponsor is Trinity Contractors.
New this year will be a Battle of the Bands. Prize money includes a $500 cash prize for first place, $250 for second place; $150 for third place; and $250 for the Crowd Favorite. Applications are being accepted now through April 12.
The first place band will perform at 6:30 p.m. on the Capps Painting Stage.
Local performers are still being confirmed for the early afternoon. In addition to great musical entertainment, there will be a free and expanded kids’ area and plenty of food available for purchase. Young and old alike will enjoy “hamster balls,” giant clear balls they can jump into and roll around in a pool without getting wet. There will be a balloon twister, a mechanical bull, a magician, face painting, demonstrations and much more.
The Coca-Cola Food Court will again be located in the concrete area just a short walk from the food vendors. Other major sponsors for this year’s festival include Amerex Corporation, Massey Stotser & Nichols PC, Bryant Bank and the City of Trussville.
Vendor spaces and volunteer opportunities are still available.
Admission to the festival is only $3 per person. Children two and under, and seniors 65 and older, are admitted free. Families will love that once inside the festival, the kids’ area is free. And be sure to pick up one of the official City Fest T-shirts for only $10.
