JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will now partner with One Place Family Justice Center in an effort to raise awareness of services and resources for victims.
Sheriff Mark Pettway said One Place is where officers will take victims of violent crimes who need immediate and long-term help.
“We will have a person over here from the sheriff’s office at One Place to help those that have been victims,” Pettway said. “We want to make sure we have a place for them to go to get the help that they need in case something happens to them.”
Pettway said the center will allow victims to know there is help for them. He said it offers a comforting atmosphere and helps them realize what their next steps will be after a traumatizing experience.
The effort is a collaboration between One Place, the District Attorney’s Office, The Office for Victims of Crimes and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
