HANCEVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say police shot and killed a man who opened fire on officers at a home.
A statement from the Hanceville Police Department says officers were called to a residence on Sunday to check on a man whose relatives were concerned about him.
The statement says someone from the home opened fire, hitting a patrol car several times.
Police returned fire, shooting the person multiple times, killing him. Authorities haven’t released the name of the dead person or any of the officers who were involved.
State police are investigating.
