NORTHPORT — The Northport Police Department said the Hugh Thomas Bridge has reopened after a fatal crash on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Police said one person was killed and another was hurt when a car traveling northbound entered the southbound lane and hit a tanker truck.
The truck, which was carrying flammable material, exploded on impact. The person in the car was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was hurt and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police are asking drivers to use caution in the area because there may be a change in traffic lanes.
The identity of the person killed has not been released.
