BIRMINGHAM — The Alabama Bureau of Investigation has taken over a case involving a Birmingham Police officer discharging a weapon on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019.
Officers at the North Precinct were approaching a vehicle, around 9:41 p.m., when they say a gunshot was fired from the area of the suspects’ vehicle. An officer fired a shot during the incident, grazing one suspect in the arm, according to a press release.
Three people were taken into custody, but one of them was released.
The injured suspect was treated on the scene and refused additional treatment at the hospital. He was later identified as 23-year-old Demarieo McGee, of Birmingham. Two attempted murder warrants have been obtained against McGee.
The other suspect was identified as Monquez Johnson, 25, of Birmingham. An obstruction of justice warrant has been obtained against Johnson.
McGee and Johnson were booked into the Birmingham City Jail.
No officers were hurt.
