BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department announced the arrest of a teen charged in a Sunday, Nov. 24, homicide.
Laeric Kejuandre Bailey, 19, of Birmingham, is charged in connection to the death of Fredrick Asher, 25, of Florence.
Police were first called to the scene of a shooting on 15th Street West, around 12:30 a.m. Officers found four victims with gunshot wounds. One of them, Asher, had life-threatening injuries.
Asher was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators later learned a fifth victim arrived at the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Detectives believe the shooting happened after patrons were made to leave a club after a fight. They said the suspect drove past the location in a dark vehicle and began shooting at patrons as they stood in the parking lot.
Bailey is in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond. He is facing a capital murder charge.
