Not much changed in the updated Alabama Sports Writers Association girls’ basketball rankings released on Wednesday.
For Hewitt-Trussville, the span between polling meant a drop from No. 5 to No. 6 in Class 7A. The Huskies, who has lost two of their past three games, ended 2019 on a four-game winning streak before falling to Pine Forest on Dec. 27. Hewitt-Trussville recently lost to No. 9 Vestavia Hills on Tuesday in what was a hard-fought game.
The only other team remaining on the fringes of the poll is Clay-Chalkville, which sits at 10-7 and received just enough votes to stay within striking range of jumping into the Class 6A top 10. The Cougars have won nine of their past 11 games after opening the season 2-5.
