AUBURN — Auburn University will continue remote instruction through the remainder of the spring semester and will postpone commencement ceremonies, due to coronavirus.
In a letter from University President Jay Gogue, students were informed the college is doing everything possible to keep students safe and supported through this “unprecedented interruption.”
“By reducing the number of individuals on campus, Auburn continues to promote as much social distancing as possible to help slow the spread of the virus,” Gogue said. “The university is working on a plan to provide prorated refunds for on-campus housing and dining plans.”
University Housing will contact students living in campus residents halls, so they can come to pick up their belongings. Auburn is asking students to avoid the campus until they receive additional information.
Gogue also announced the withdrawal date for students has been extended to April 24.
All on-campus activities are suspended. May commencement ceremonies will be suspended. Degrees will be mailed to students.
“Graduation is one of the most important events in the lives of our students, and I look forward to celebrating their accomplishments at a future date,” Gogue added.
A final decision for the university’s summer plan will be made soon, according to the letter.
Gogue encourages all students to subscribe to email updates on the university’s COVID-19 information page and to follow university social media accounts.
“One of the most extraordinary characteristics of the Auburn Family is our solidarity in times of crisis and need,” Gogue said, in closing. “I am confident we will emerge from these trying times even stronger.”
