BIRMINGHAM — A man has died following a shooting in Birmingham on Thursday afternoon, prompting the Birmingham Police Department to initiate a homicide investigation.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim on Friday as Kahlia Duquan Sturdivant, 33, of Birmingham.
Sturdivant was found on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at around 1:20 p.m. in the 7000 block of 1st Ave.North in Birmingham. He was discovered lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound in an alley behind a business by East Precinct officers following a report of a person shot.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported Sturdivant to the UAB Hospital Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries. Detectives were later notified that Sturdivant had succumbed to his injuries at 3:11 p.m.
No other details have been released as to a motive. No suspect(s) are in custody.
