JEFFERSON COUNTY — According to an Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) traffic advisory, drivers on Interstate-65 can expect some delays between the Mt. Olive exit (Milepost 272) and the Hayden exit (Milepost 284) for the next few days.
ALDOT launched a shoulder grading operation on that stretch of interstate on the morning of Tuesday, July 7, causing lane closures for both northbound and southbound drivers. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete at some point on Friday, July 9.
Closures should be expected between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day.
“Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area,” wrote ALDOT in a release. “ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this construction operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.”
