TRUSSVILLE — The last day to register to vote in the municipal election will be Aug. 10, 2020. This will also be the last day you can change your address or name on your voter registration.
Municipal elections in many Alabama cities will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Trussville City Clerk Lynn Porter said it is important for everyone to know they have to register or change information 14 days prior to an election.
“Voter registration is county-specific,” Porter said. “If someone has moved from another county and has not updated their registration, this cannot be remedied on election day.”
The last day to request an absentee ballot is Aug. 20. Absentee ballots are available for voters who will be out of town or have a medical issue or disability. For more information on how to get an absentee ballot, see your local City Clerk.
Secretary of State John Merill has clarified that due to the coronavirus pandemic and National Emergency, voters who feel it is unreasonable or impossible to vote at their voting place, are eligible for an absentee ballot. The box to check for anyone with health concerns at the polls, reads: “I have a physical illness or infirmity which prevents my attendance at the polls.”
A voter ID is required.
