FAIRFIELD — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating a possible homicide after a woman was found dead on Interstate 59/20 on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020.
The body was found near mile marker 118, which is in Fairfield, around 3:20 a.m.
Troopers responded tot he scene and requested special agents with the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) to look into the matter.
ALEA said any findings will be turned over to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
The body was the second found on I-59/20 in a week’s time. A man was found dead on Thursday, Aug. 13, on the side of Interstate 59/20 South, near the Bush Boulevard exit. Jefferson County Coroner Bil Yates said Jaylon Jamir Williams, 20, of Fairfield, appeared to have sustained trauma, but the cause of death has yet to be determined.
There was no indication the two incidents were related.
