ENSLEY — Detectives from the Birmingham Police Department are conducting a homicide investigation following a shooting that took place outside an Ensley bar on Saturday, Sept. 5.
One victim, 34-year-old Sharod Harrison, was pronounced dead at the scene. Just before 6 a.m. Saturday, officers from the West Precinct responded to a shot spotter call of multiple rounds fired at the Crown Lounge located at 517 19th St. Ensley.
Uppon arrival, officers discovered Harrison lying on the ground in the rear parking lot of
the club. He had been wounded by gunfire and was pronounced deceased by Birmingham Fire & Rescue.
Police say the preliminary investigation suggest an altercation ensued at the Crown Lounge,
resulting in an exchange of gunfire. It is unclear if the victim was involved in the altercation
or caught in the crossfire.
Multiple people have been detained and questioned by detectives. The investigation is ongoing.
