BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham couple has died after a fire erupted in their home last Friday morning.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as Joseph Tuan Cung and his wife Janette Armstronge Cung, both 74 years old. According to the coroner’s report, the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Birmingham Fire/Rescue responded to the home, which is located in the 1300 block of Hartford Drive in Birmingham, in the early-morning hours of Friday, Oct. 23. Jonathan was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital for treatment, but passed away shortly after arrival. Janette was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:45 a.m.
