BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating after a robbery at AlaTrust Credit Union on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020.
Police said a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy was working an off-duty job at the location at 1694 Montclair Road when a suspect came into the credit union and demanded money with a note. The incident happened just before 3 p.m.
The suspect left with money and was confronted by the deputy in the parking lot. Shots were fired at the suspect but the suspect was able to flee.
A short time later, Birmingham Police, with the assistance of Irondale Police, were able to apprehend the suspect in the city limits of Irondale.
No one was hurt during the incident.
