ROEBUCK — The owner of the New Orleans Saints paid off layaways at three Walmart locations and one of them was in the Birmingham area.
According to NOLA.com, Gayle Benson’s gift paid off layaways for 30 to 40 families at the Walmart Supercenter off Parkway East, in Roebuck.
The manager of the store, Cedric Towns, told NOLA.com he was thankful to some positive news in 2020.
“We are definitely grateful for Ms. Benson for her contribution to our store and our community,” said Towns.
Benson also paid the remainder of all layaways at Walmart locations in Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans and on Mall Drive in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Benson also owns the Pelicans, which will have a G-League affiliated in Legacy Arena once renovations are complete.
An estimated 460 families benefited from the Christmas surprise.
