TRUSSVILLE — Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Nurse Laurie Morrison sent a letter to parents about COVID-19 restrictions and the Trussville City School system said the note is relative to all schools.
In the note, Morrison reminded parents to keep their kids at home if they are feeling sick. She said if the child is experiencing two or more symptoms of COVID, to contact your pediatrician.
“Keep in mind that often times Covid symptoms are mild in students this age such as (but not limited to) headache, congestion, runny nose, fatigue, or sore throat,” Morrison said.
The following information was released for any student that tests positive or has been exposed to a positive case:
· Contact the school nurse and the clinic will notify teachers and the office.
· The nurse will determine your child’s return to school date.
· Quarantine time is 10 days for a positive test or 14 days for a positive exposure
· With the positive result on file, your child will not be quarantined due to exposure for 90 days but will be sent home if symptoms are present.
· If your child is in quarantine due to an exposure a positive antibody test or a negative test will NOT replace the quarantine.
· Keep other siblings home from school and notify that child’s school nurse.
**If you have a positive COVID case in your home and the student is not isolated from the positive person this will extend their quarantine.
Morrison asked parents to contact the school nurse with any questions.
