UPDATE: Authorities have identified the victim of a domestic-related homicide in Birmingham.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 44-year-old Louis Anglish Bryant was killed early Thursday morning following a shooting in the 1500 block of Vanderbilt Road.
EARLIER:
BIRMINGHAM – The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation following an incident that occurred on the morning of Thursday, April 1, 2021.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers responded to a call of a person shot at 1516 Vanderbilt Road shortly before 4:30 a.m. Officers arrived and were directed to a person inside the residence who sustained a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures that were not successful. The victim has been identified as Louis Bryant, 44, of Birmingham.
Police say the investigation indicates a domestic-related altercation occurred prior to Bryant being shot. A suspect was taken into custody pending further investigation.
