GRANT, Ala. — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is investigating a fatal crash that happened on Monday, May 3, 2021.
The crash happened at approximately 1:05 p.m. Jimmy Dale Payne, 48, of Grant, was pronounced dead on the scene on Essingler Road near Waverly Hills Road, about a mile east of Grant.
ALEA said Payne’s 1995 Geo Tracker crossed the center line and collided with a 2004 GMC Envoy. Payne was not wearing a seatbelt, according to troopers. The passengers of the Geo and the GMC were not hurt.
